Biography of Scott Stevens
Mr. Scott Stevens is a journalist, posting regularly on health and alcohol issues for online news services and is a founding influencer at the world's largest medical portal, Health Tap. Stevens blends intensive evidence- based research, wit, journalistic objectivity, blunt personal dialogue and no-nonsense business perspective in his four award-winning health and addiction books.
Among the numerous five-star reviews of his work, an AODA clinician called Stevens' work, “Among my clinical favorites.” A well-known interventionist gives a copy of Every Silver Lining Has a Cloud to all her clients. A reader also remarked of that title, “I've been sober 23 years. This is the best relapse book I've read.”
"Scott is a remarkable guy with very solid, very heartfelt, and very well documented advice on next steps. The award-winning author of three books reports on alcohol in a way that many medical folk, including psychiatrists, do not. His is a combination of intellect mastery and raw tragedy. His is not a sob story, not a poor wretched me, but rather an impassioned and thoughtful look at alcohol’s lasting downstream damage to brain and body biology. He’s taking alcoholic biology on the road – with provocative trench insights." – Dr. Charles Parker, Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist, Board Certified in Psychiatry, author, and host of CoreBrain Journal.
Welcome Message by Conference Chair Dear All,
I'd like to personally encourage each of you to fully immerse yourself in the International Conference on Addiction Therapy & Clinical Reports. This year’s conference theme of 'Clinical and Medical Case Studies that Pave Way for Advanced Healthcare' is sure to be engaging and relevant to common issues as we face an unrelenting global addiction crisis.
The theme validates where most of us have been all along: Addiction therapy is a core tenet of improving overall public health.
When we return to the fundamentals in experiential education we find vision, hope, strategy, and effective practices for innovative client-focused initiatives in a changing world, regardless of the drug of choice. Embedding high-impact practices into our educational programs and providing clients with concrete and authentic tools creates a straight line to life transformations and healthcare efficiency. This conference's exciting educational agenda that takes on new relevance in our rapidly changing dialogue on what drugs do to a user, not what they think the drug is doing for them..
In line with the conference theme, we will have highly credible speaker after speaker. I personally don't think we could have a more relevant speaker start us off. George Vaillant is a consummate professional and a thought-leader from the U.S. He will lead us with a long-range analysis of 12-step programs that will unquestionably be the content on the 12-step process that will be quoted for years to follow. The session will be interactive and will help all of us explore a framework to navigate a rapidly changing society and plot pathways out of the darkness of addiction. What a way to start!
Further, we have a full schedule of 40+ sessions that address the breadth of our work. From the mouths of fellow practitioners, our conference promises meaningful insight revolving around the topics of experiential learning foundations, best practices, institutional implementation, technology/innovation, and staff development.
There will be many opportunities for networking and learning when you fully immerse yourself in the conference and our agenda. In a world undergoing real transformation, the International Conference on Addiction Therapy & Clinical Reports gives platform for meeting and sharing experiences with educators, practitioners, and faculty who advance the theory and practice of addiction treatment.
Stevens' work has appeared on CNN, Fox, NBC, CBS, and ABC. His first two white papers made waves as the country begins what he calls “a shift in alcohol policy and public dialogue from what people think alcohol does FOR them to what it does TO them.” The first white paper is called “Six Signs the Next 10 Years For The Alcohol Biz Will Be Like The Last 20 For Tobacco.” The second was “How Others' Alcohol Use Became Your Business: Toxin-omics.” Both were Alcohologist.com exclusives in early 2016.

Welcome Message by Conference Chair Dear colleagues and friends,
I am very delighted to welcome all of you to the International Conference on Addiction Therapy & Clinical Reports on August 23-24, 2018 in Paris (Addiction Therapy-2018), the historic capital of France situated on the Seine River.
The conference this year will focus on “clinical and medical case studies that pave way for an advanced healthcare”. As a globalized conference, academia and industry scientists and experts frommany countries will get together sharing the knowledge on addiction, obsession etc. There are about 20% of individuals who have used drugs recreationally and develop a substance use disorder finally, which become a growing health problem worldwide. Therefore, addiction theoretical underpinnings and therapy have been an area of much interest and research.
Such as the α6β2 ( designates other possible subunit) nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) modulate the release of dopamine, which are expressed by dopaminergic neurons in the central nervous system. The α6β2 nAChRs are believed to be important in mediating tobacco, morphine, cocaine and ethanol addiction. The α3β4 and α4β2 nAChR subtypes are related to addition as well. The three nAChR subtypes of α6β2, α3β4 and α4β2 are potential therapeutic targets for the treatment of addiction. Their antagonists, e.g. selective conotoxins may give new strategies to treat addiction. More researches and discoveries on addiction are ongoing all the time, which would be presented at Addiction Therapy-2018.
In this conference, there will be more than 40 sessions covering from physiology to psychology and bench to bedside. It is a great opportunity to make friends, meet experts and exchange ideas and experience. This must be a marvelous meeting that will synergize our knowledge to the benefit of advanced healthcare.
Besides, as the world's most visited cities, Paris is a major European city and a global center for art, fashion, gastronomy and culture. You will never want to lose the opportunity to stroll in the 19th-century cityscape and the cutting edge of fashions. We are sure that all the participants will have a memorable and enjoyable time.
With best wishes
