After completing his degree in Physics at the University of Pisa and PhD in Materials Engineering at the University of Napoli, Andrea Di Schino joined Centro Sviluppo Materiali SpA (CSM), a european leading centre for Materials Research. After spending more than 10 years in CSM he joined the University of Perugia as Professor of Metallurgy. His main interest is to combine fundamental theoretical research and experiments to explain mechanisms and discover new insight in the field of steel metallurgy. Luís Guerra ROSA is Associate Professor with Aggregation at Instituto Superior Tecnico (IST Lisbon), Universidade de Lisboa. Dr. Huseyin Zengin completed his bachelor degree from Materials Science and Engineering, Gebze Technical University. After completing his master's degreein Advanced Metallurgy at the University of Sheffield, UK in 2013, he started to work as a research assistant in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering in Karabuk University, Turkey in 2014. He received his Ph.D. in 2018 from Karabuk University. His research interests include ferrous and non-ferrous metallic materials, focusing mainly on their microstructure, mechanical, tribological and corrosion properties before and after deformation processes such as extrusion and rolling. He also studies metal matrix composites. He has published nearly 20 refereed papers and attended numerous scientific conferences.
Ricardo Branco has completed his PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Coimbra. He is currently Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Coimbra, Portugal. Research Interest Structural integrity, mechanical behaviour of materials, fatigue and fracture of engineering materials, fatigue analysis of mechanical and structural notched components, application of finite element method to fracture mechanics.
Laurent Espitalier was awarded the title of Ingenieur-Maitre in Materials Science after graduating and completing his MSc at the University of Evry. He then specialized in advanced coatings and surface engineering at the University of Paris-Sud and completed his industrial thesis on the development of DLC coatings by Pulsed-DC PECVD. Laurent has contributed greatly to the development of PECVD and PVD coatings in various industries and is now lecturing at leading Universities in the UK. He recently completed his MBA with distinction from Lord Ashcroft Business School in Cambridge and gained a fellowship from the Chartered Management Institute; he is also co-chair of ‘Hard Coatings and Vapor Deposition Technologies’ at ICMCTF and an active member of the Surface Engineering Leadership Forum in the UK. Laurent has published many journal articles and peer-reviewed articles for ‘Surface and Coating Technology’. His recent publications and presentations reflect his research interest in the surface engineering of high-value components for the aerospace and biomedical industries by Electro Plasma Polishing and Electron Beam PVD.

His research activities are mainly investigation of solid solution hardening, plastic instabilities and dynamic strain ageing, mechanical properties of magnesium polycrystals, composites and nanomaterials, hardening and softening mechanisms, superplasticity, and thermally activated mechanisms, thermally properties of magnesium alloys and composites. He is author and co-author of more than 500 scientific papers published mostly in international journals with IF and reviewed conference proceedings. During the last ten years, he presented 22 invited lectures and he has been or is a member of scientific international committees of 21 international conferences (at 2 conferences he served as a chairman) His published papers are oft cited by other authors – more than 3000 citations. He was co-editor of journal “Acta Universitatis Carolinae”. He is co-author of 10 books. Lai-Chang Zhang is a Professor of Materials Engineering and the Program Leader – Mechanical Engineering in the School of Engineering at Edith Cowan University. After receiving his PhD in Materials Science and Engineering at the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Prof Zhang held several positions at The University of Western Australian, University of Wollongong, IFW Dresden and TechnischeUniversität Darmstadt. He is currently Professor in Smart Systems and Project Director: Airports of the Future Research in in Queensland University of Technology, Australia. He had number of distinguished appointments in various universities in India, China and Australia. He received more than $15M funding for his research and he published 500 papers. In 2016 Professor Yarlagadda was awarded Order of Australia Medal and included in Queens Birthday Honors list in recognition of his outstanding service to Engineering Profession and Indian Community in Queensland, Australia. Dr Abbas Amini is currently an assistant professor at ACK andWestern Sydney University, Australia. After obtaining PhD from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (ranked17th in Engineering among the universities worldwide), he conducted research with Australian universities, as a postdoctoral research fellow at Monash and Deakin Universities, and as a senior research fellow at the University of Melbourne. Maurício Leonardo Torem is a metallurgical and industrial engineer (1977) – PUC-Rio. He undertook his master degree in metallurgical engineering (1980) at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) and his doctorate degree in metallurgical engineering/ mineral processing at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) (1989). He works with the Department of ChemicalEngineering and Materials– Pontifical Catholic University since 1983. He is the Head of the Mineral Processing Research Group. His main research areas are: Environmental and Mineral Biotechnology applied to metals uptake from liquid streams and mineral flotation and more recently, urban mining. He has published many articles in scientific journals and in conferences.
Dr. Bin Li is Professor in the Lab for renewable energy at Huazhong University of science and technology, China and visiting researcher at University of Lisbon, Portugal. After receiving his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in 1999 at Instituto Superior Tecnico–University of Lisbon, he gained Post-Doc experience in Technical University of Clausthal, Germany. From 2002 to 2007, he was an assistant professor at ISEL –Lisbon. From 2008 to 2013, he was the FCT investigator at ICEMS/IST in the program Ciência 2007 of Portugal. From 2014 to 2015, a visiting researcher at DEM/IST, University of Lisbon. He has participated in 2 EU projects (one FP7 project and another SFERA II Project) and 9 other projects. He specialized in the area of durability and reliability of engineering materials and components with a focus on fatigue and fracture under multiaxial and combined HCF/LCF conditions. He is a co-author of 5 book chapters in the special technical publications of ASTM and ESIS, co-editor of the Proceedings of the 6th international conference on multiaxial fatigue and fracture. He has published 108 articles in international peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings and received the Best Paper Award of the ASME 2001 International Design Engineering Technical Conferences.
After completing his undergraduate with Bs.C.in Mechanical Engineering at the Middle East technical University, RahmiÜnal was graduated from the Materials Science and Engineering Department at the Technical University of Clausthalin Germanywith a Ph.D. degree. His main study subject is powder metallurgy and especially metal powder production processes.Dr.-Ing.Unal has contributed greatly to the development of gas atomisation process for metal powder production in various industries and is now lecturing at Gazi University in Ankara. He is co-editor of Journal of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of Gazi University.His recent publications and presentations reflect his research interest in the plasma atomisation and metal additive manufacturing processes.
Dr. Sherif D. El Wakil is an Emeritus Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth where he held the rank of Chancellor Professor of Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Elwakil currently serves as aconsultantfor product failure analysis and product design assessmentand as a technical expert witness before courts. Dr. El Wakil has over 40 years of experience in academia, teaching various manufacturing engineering courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. He also served in various administrative functions, including Dean, Chairman of the Academic Council of the College of Engineering, and Chairman of the Mechanical Engineering Department. Dr. El Wakil has implemented multiple programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels and oversaw their ascendency to national ranking. Dr. El Wakil is the author of "Processes and Design for Manufacturing" which has been translated into multiple languages and adopted at many of the world's top engineering programs. He received many research grants from NSF, NIST, SME, and was awarded the USAF Fellowship. Dr. El Wakil provided consulting work for numerous national and international manufacturing corporations, and served as an expert witness before courts. He has been a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) since 1984, and waselected amember of the North American Manufacturing Research Institute (NAMRI) in the same year. He also served as a member and chair of the Curriculum Committee of the SME Education Foundation. His professional excellence and consistent contributions tothe activities of the SME have been acknowledged with the President's Award twice, in 1985 and 2006. Finally, he became a life-long member of SME in 2015.
Dr. Hosseini is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Arkansas Tech University (ATU) since 2017. He established Combustion and Sustainable Energy Laboratory (ComSEL) at ATU working on several projects such as natural gas and biogas Flameless combustion, small-scale combustion, biomass energy conversion, alternative fuels combustion, renewable Hydrogen production and utilization. Before joining Arkansas Tech University, Dr. Hosseini was a postdoctoral researcher fellow in Combustion and Solar Energy Laboratory with the Department of Mechanical Engineering at San Diego State University working on a hybrid solar thermal energy generation project funded by Department of Energy (DOE). He received the Ph.D. and M.Sc. degrees in mechanical engineering in 2016 and 2012, respectively. His research interests clean combustion technologies, flameless combustion, micro/meso scale combustion, propulsion, detonation, biomass and alternative fuels, renewable and sustainable energy, hybrid energy systems and optimization. Dr. Hosseini has published more than 60 scientific papers in the energy and combustion fields in high ranked international journals such as Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Applied Energy and Energy Conversion and Management. He has more than eight years of work experience in clean power generation and energy industry.
Mexican Professor at the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB), School of Metallurgical and Ecological Engineering, since September 2018, currently rated number one metallurgy department in the world.
